It is the cold time of year but the horses have their winter coats and stay warm.
But they really like days like yesterday with bright sunshine and trees to block the wind.
You can almost see their smiles.
On this cold winter day my thoughts turn to food. Fish is one of my favorite dishes and one we have been serving at our Christmas eve dinner along with the tenderloin of beef.
Two years ago I ordered wild caught salmon from Alaska for out dinner that turned out great.
My nephew David lives in Anchorage and fishes Prince William Sound all summer. He caught and froze some salmon for us. It turned out to be perfectly delicious.

It is nice to see the geese back on the pond at the Eldorado Golf Course. A true sign of spring. They should be having some little ones but no sign yet.
In the early morning the air is clear and the snow squeaks under your feet but there is no wind so it does not feel that cold. In fact the 16 degrees seem to be quite comfortable with my warm clothes. In Lake Havasu City the daily high has been in the mid-fifties and people there say it is really cold! In Kotzebue, Alaska the thermometer are reading above zero - a real heat wave.
So I guess it depends not on where you are but who you are and your expectations. Me, any temperature is fine as long as the snow does not melt..
My sister-in-law Barbara Jo is out collecting small trees for table decorations for her garden clubs Christmas home tour. The Cadillac Garden Club decorate some local homes for Christmas and sell tour tickets to raise money for the club.
